 Barsana Holi, Uttar Pradesh

I am planning to attend Barsana Lathmaar Holi in March 2016. I will be going there with few of my friends and my wife. Few people advised me to not to take my wife to Barsana and Nandgaon during the holi as there might be risk during the holi celebration.

Popular Holi
Barsana Holi

1.
Barsana when Holi is celebrated. The State Tourism Board has arranged a special viewing of the celebrations in a ground on the outskirt’s of the town. You can witness the brilliance and splendor that marks Barsana Holi easily.

2.
Barsana Holi is celebrated on the ninth day of the month of Phalgun according to the Hindu calendar. It corresponds to the month March.

3.
Holi of Barsana, the birthplace of Radha, a village, 42 kms away from Mathura, is of particular interest.

4.
Here, men from Nandgaon, the land of Krishna come to play Holi with the girls of Barsana and hope of raising their flag over Shri Radhikaji's temple. But, instead of colours they are greeted with sticks by the gopis. Hence, the Holi get its new name here-Lathmaar Holi.

5.
The week long Holi celebrations also continue in the various Krishna temples on different days. The celebrations are filled with clouds of colours and of course, much fun.

I really don't want to miss this grand event but also want to make sure the safety.
Please advise.

Holi Ke Rang Kanha Ke Sang

Holi khel rahe banke bihariHo Holi khel rahe banke bihari Ha ha Holi khel rahe banke bihari
Aaj rang baras raha Holi khel rahe banke bihari Aaj rang baras rahaAur jhoom rahi duniya sari -2Aaj rang baras raha.

Kanha Ke Sang HoliAfter enjoying the rasa-lila in the autumn season, Krishna relishes the  pastimes of Holi and having His flute stolen which take place in the  spring season.

One night, Govinda and Rama (Balarama) went to the forest of Vrndavana to  enjoy the pastime of Holi (festival of throwing colors), which is enacted  either in the morning or evening. The skillful festival performance  exactly matched the local customs. The devatas were very enthusiastic to  observe this celebration. Seeing the astonishing beauty of Krishna holding  His flute, and wearing a fresh garland, glittering garments and ornaments,  the gopis tied Him up in their hearts and sang His glories in charming  voices. Krishna and Balarama, and their dear cowherd boyfriends performed this  pastime amongst the splendid gopis of Vrndavana who are clever and  skillful at playing Holi. The two brothers, however, out of respect for  each other's moods of love, played separately with Their own groups of  gopis whose minds relished the association of their respective lovers.
